About
Hi, I’m Dana Zullo, and I’m here to help you shine as you navigate the college application process for visual art and design programs. With years of experience as an art educator and college admissions counselor, I specialize in helping students create portfolios that truly stand out. My goal? To inspire you to keep learning, growing, and adapting on your creative journey—and to present your unique voice in a compelling way.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working in amazing museums and galleries, like the New York Transit Museum, Caren Golden Fine Art, and Crown Point Press.
I also spent two incredible years teaching high school art in Ghana as a Peace Corps volunteer and later served as a Senior Enrollment Representative at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Meet Dana Zullo: Your Art Portfolio Adviser
These experiences shaped how I connect with students and approach the creative process.
I’m also a writer and practicing artist. I’ve published artist biographies and participated in residencies at South Porch Artists, The Writers’ Colony at Dairy Hollow, and Sundress Academy for the Arts. My poetry and floral art (I practice the Ichiyo School of Ikebana) bring nature and creativity into my daily life—and influence how I advise students.
My students have gone on to study at top schools, including RISD, Parsons School of Design- The New School, Pratt, SAIC, MICA, SCAD, and CalArts—many with portfolio scholarships. Watching them thrive and make their mark in the creative world is rewarding.
When we work together, you’ll find that I coach with care and dedication. I’m here to help you discover your unique qualities, showcase them beautifully, and feel confident about the next steps in your creative journey. Let’s make your art—and your story—shine!
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”—Pablo Picasso
As we grow, the world sometimes teaches us to doubt our instincts. Making a portfolio is a great time to reconnect with the fearless creativity you had as a child.
